It's been three months since the Project started, and I've finished the saucer section.  I thought I'd be done in three months!  I wonder if we're talking about years to completion, here.. (grimace).

It took almost a day per light, and there are eleven lights in the saucer to light the bay windows.  It took so long because of the time it took for the glue to set and the post to affix.  Light post placement was very precise, as I "straddled" two windows with one LED at times so as to reduce the number of LEDs used.  I probably had literally 1mm  leeway in the mountings (because of the light dispersion pattern - 1mm means 2cm on the other end of the ship).   This was by far the most grueling part of this project so far, even more so then the bending of the fibre.

Which, I might add, seems to have worked perfectly.  I'm very, very pleased with the results.

I also consider myself lucky in the way the two halves fit.  When I constructed it I knew that space would be at a premium, so I just assumed that all mountings would need to be as tiny, flat and neat as I could get them.  I didn't take into account the height of the light posts!  If it weren't for my premise of construction, each post would have run into the other half and it would have been a serious problem.  As it turned out, after assembly I had about 1-2 cm between them, so the halves fit together perfectly.

I've tested all fibres, wires and LEDs - I'm ready to move on.  (Wide, cheery grin).
