Today I prepped the saucer section for joining by installing the fibre drivers for the port and starboard indicators (per 11/24/01), since wires are so very much more flexible than large-diameter fibre.

I sewed together two little pillows so as to provide a good working environment for what comes..

The port side of the engineering section was then joined to the saucer, then to the drive section, ensuring all the little window fibres didn't get stuck in the junction.  This side of the engineering section is going to take a lot of stress during the steps that follow, so I ensured it was attached well.

So as to ensure it was installed properly, I lined up the wires to get out of the way, and then attached the starboard piece of the engineering section.  It was a perfect fit.

I'm no longer dealing with three distinct pieces - the saucer, drive section and engineering sections are now joined.  It's the first time I've seen what this has the potential to look like!

I'm now tasked with the electrical mechanics of this project, and final ship assembly.  All the wires need to get sorted, connected and tested.  I suspect there will be adjustments that will have to be made to the circuit board - now's the time to do that.

     Here's what I'm dealing with:
