In order to build the most perfect replica of the Voyager I could physically do, I had to learn a phenomenal amount about modeling, either by book, other's experiences, Internet reference or on the fly.  I post this section in an effort to share the information - I'm no authority, but if someone can add my experiences to their pool of knowledge, it make might their lives a little easier.
