There is a common misconception that the 5th amendment is only about your not saying something that may incriminate you, but it's much bigger than that: protection against self incrimination put the burden of proof on the prosecution. "If you think I did something wrong, prove it."
Like your smartphone, the license plate on your car allows for mass real time tracking, eliminating our 5th amendment right. There are already cases whereby someone was in the wrong place at the wrong time and law enforcement queried traffic databases to find everyone in the area and arrested them... even though most people charged weren't involved. This puts the public on defense to prove their innocence instead of prosecution having to prove their guilt.
